“Some people see dead people or hear voices telling them to do spurious things. I categorize myself as one of those people who hear voices in their head. The “Difference” is, my voices are not from a psychosis telling me to do something, they are the voices of instruments beckoning me to let them out into the universe. As a California native, I know, a rare beast, I began performing at the age of 5 and singing any, every, song I heard on the radio. While I was selected first chair clarinet and concertmaster of the Middle School Orchestra, given the duties of tuning up the sections and conducting sectionals, my interests lay more with popular music and at age 11 I formed a cover band; we were paid to perform at local high school and church dances. Accepted to Chapman Conservatory for music, I was drawn to capturing performances using the latest recording techniques, rather than performing or completing a degree. Regardless of the pull to express the musical voices I heard, I spent a career behind mixing consoles honing my craft of recording, producing and mixing other artists’ music in various genres. In 2012, I finally completed my first album of works and released it that August. I began teaching Commercial Music Production in 2012; however, I am still drawn to composing and completed my Music Composition degree at VCSU in 2018.”
